HARRISBURG, Pa. -- A senior judge will preside over the criminal trial of three former Penn State administrators on charges stemming from their handling of child molestation complaints about former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, a court spokesman said Friday.Retired Berks County Judge John Boccabella was appointed June 30 by the states chief justice to handle the case in Harrisburg after Dauphin County judges recused themselves.Criminal charges against former university vice president Gary Schultz and former athletic director Tim Curley were first filed in 2011, followed a year later by charges against former president Graham Spanier. All three men vigorously deny the allegations against them, and some of their more serious charges were dismissed in January by an appeals court that determined their right to legal representation was violated by the actions of the universitys then-general counsel. The case against the three has dragged on largely in secret, as the appeals issue concerned matters related to the grand jury that investigated in 2011 and recommended charges against Curley, Schultz and Sandusky.More recently, a Dauphin County judge directed defense attorneys and the attorney generals office to file pretrial motions this month and let him know if they wanted a hearing. All three defendants have filed the documents , which were published online Friday afternoon, seeking dismissal of charges. Prosecutors have several weeks to respond. Now that Boccabella has the case, its not clear what the next step will be.My understanding is hes done nothing but read the case files, Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts spokesman Jim Koval said Friday. In requesting the assignment of an out-of-county judge, Dauphin County President Judge Richard Lewis sought someone who was not affiliated with Penn State, the state police or the attorney generals office.Boccabella did not return a phone message seeking comment.Sandusky was convicted in 2012 of 45 counts of child sexual abuse involving 10 boys. He was sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison and is appealing.---This story has been corrected to show the spokesman spoke Friday, not Thursday. Trace McSorley Jersey . Louis Cardinals. That comes after a study in the USA claimed there is a link between the use of the material on artificial surfaces - made from recycled tyres - and cancer.A father whose son contracted Hodgkins Lymphoma while playing as a trialist goalkeeper at Leeds United two years ago has called for further research into the allegations. The American finding suggested goalkeepers were at particular risk of falling ill due to the fact they came into more regular contact with the substance. But Dr Colin Young of Nottingham-based Labosport UK says investigations by his firm show the rubber - also known as SPR - is safe.He told Sky Sports News HQ: We tested the SPR to a toy standard and we identified it was a particular toy standard which iss an EN 71 part three.ddddddddddddThat linked to the safety of childrens toys, dummies and anything a child might feasibly put in their mouth. Weve sampled SPR from fields in the USA, the UK and in Europe to this standard Dr Colin Young says the rubber used on 3G pitches is no more dangerous than a childrens toy We havent found any toxicological issues or any high elevated levels in any of these materials that are considered a risk to childrens health on any SPR fields so far. From the results weve got from a statistically significant number of samples, it would perfectly meet and could be rubber-stamped in terms of meeting the requirements for childrens toys.
