Bernie Ecclestone has suggested Formula 1 should build walls on racetrack corners to make the sport more dangerous. The F1 supremo has accepted his remarks are unlikely to be well received following the sports prolonged pursuit of increased safety.Ive been criticised probably by everybody because I wanted to build 40cm walls around the corners, said Ecclestone. In those [the old] days, and it cant happen again, people would come to a race and think somebody could get killed. Today they know they come to a race and nobody is going to get killed. Which is good. Natalie Pinkham is joined by former BAR and Benetton Team Principal David Richards and Sky F1s Marc Priestley to review the US Grand Prix. Speaking at the US GP, where the disregard shown by the field for the designated track limits was routinely criticised, Ecclestone added: They keep saying they mustnt go off the road, I promise they wont. After over 20 years, dating back to Ayrton Sennas death at the 1994 San Marino GP, without a fatality caused by F1 racing, Jules Bianchi passed away last year as a result of injuries sustained during the 2014 Japanese GP.But Ecclestone has cited Fernando Alonsos escape from his dramatic crash at the season-opening Australian GP as another reason to consider change. What Fernando had in Australia ... you wouldnt think he was going to walk away, said Ecclestone. McLarens Fernando Alonso and Haas Esteban Gutierrez collide in the Australian Grand Prix leading to the Spaniard being sent airborne What we ought to do immediately that happens is have big sheets all the way around, bring the ambulance in ... and take him away. Hes gone to the hospital and later on you announce that, thank God, hes out. A bit of showbiz. People like that. Dont miss the Mexican GP on Sunday evening. Well play Melbourne City anywhere, any time, according to Sydney FC midfielder Josh Brillante.Brillante has opted not to join the clubs outcry over Football Federation Australias decision to host the FFA Cup final in Melbourne.Sky Blues chairman Scott Barlow gave the governing body both barrels on Wednesday after Citys AAMI Park venue was chosen over Allianz Stadium for the November 30 decider.Brillante said while the outcome was disappointing for their fanbase, players were ready to take on a City side who booked their spot on on Tuesday night with a 2-0 win over arch rivals Melbourne Victory.Obviously disappointing not to have it here in Sydney, particularly for our fans. It wouldve been great to have it here, Brillante told reporters on Wednesday. But, to be honest, were not too fussed about that at all. Wherever we play, well come out with a great attitude and perform. The snub means Sydney FC, who havent conceded a goal all tournament, will go through the entire FFA Cup schedule without playing in front of their own fans.On that side of things, its not the best for us. But we dont really deaal with these kind of things.dddddddddddd As players, we dont need to worry, Brillante said.Like I said, its disappointing. Its always great to have to play in front of the home fans. But Melbourne, AAMI Park is a great stadium as well. The atmosphere should be great. For now, Sydney FC players have narrowed their focus to Saturday as they look to maintain their perfect start to the A-League season when they take on early-season surprise packets Newcastle. The Jets and Sky Blues, together with Perth, are the only sides yet to taste defeat over the opening three rounds of the competition.Theyve done quite well. Were expecting a very tough match. Its always tough going up there to play the Jets. I think weve just got to go out with the right attitude every week, Brillante said.Weve had a great start to the season and a lot of that has to do with the pre-season we had. All the boys, from the first game, are fit and ready to go. That goes to show how well weve been doing. ' ' '
