Collingwood recruit James Aish is living proof of why you shouldnt judge an AFL player too quickly.Aish finished fourth in the count for the 2014 Rising Star award but managed only 11 games in his second season at Brisbane. It was a combination of poor form, a finger injury, a broken jaw and near-constant speculation over his future.Nonetheless the midfielder arrived at the Magpies with great expectations last year, having been taken with pick No.7 in the 2013 draft.Aish struggled in the opening half of this season but since earning a recall for round 14 has been far more consistent, playing all eight games and showing plenty of class. He copped a lot of flak for it, were so quick to jump on guys, Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley said of criticism levelled at Aish earlier this year.Aishys only in his third year. Hes played 25 or 30 games of footy. He was learning about his new teammates, coming to a new city in Melbourne that hes never lived in before. There was plenty of settling in that he had to do.Clearly hes been able to stick at it, see the bigger picture and continue to work away. His form over the last six weeks has been pretty encouraging.Buckley suggested many judges showed a lack of restraint across the league.I know we get very impatient with recruits, even with young players, he said.An old wise head once told me that you cant expect a third grader to pass matriculation.Youve got to get through primary school before you get to high school. The hot form of Adam Treloar, who like Aish joined the club during last years trade period, has helped the Magpies deal with the season-long absence of Dane Swan.Buckley remains unsure whether 2011 Brownlow medallist Swan will retire, having suffered a serious foot injury in round one.Hes in limbo a little bit. Hes still trying to work out what his bodys capable of and how his foot is healing, Buckley said. The next surgical opinion isnt going to be until late September, so hes working away now to make sure hes in shape to keep next year on the radar.Cheap NBA Jerseys .ca looks back at the stories and moments that made the year memorable. LOUIS -- Heading into the final stretch of the season, the issues for the Chicago Bears banged-up defence only seem to be getting worse. The Western Cape Cricket (WCC) board will meet before Friday to decide whether they implement a suggestion from dispute resolution body, the Council for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), to appoint an independent assessor in 14 days time to look into Paul Adams role as Cobras head coach. The CCMA made the recommendation after several Cobras players, through the South African Cricketers Association (SACA), took their grievance with Adams to the body, following a breakdown in the boards ability to resolve long-standing issues.Seven franchise players were present at the CCMA on Tuesday to state their case but an insider told ESPNcricinfo he does not believe the board will implement the CCMAs motion because they have already given Adams their backing. The source predicts more battles between the board and players on this matter.Although none of the players complaints about Adams have been made public, 10 out of the 17 contracted players have stated on the record that they do not believe he is the right man to take the team forward. They first made their unhappiness known at the end of the last season but Cobras offered Adams a two-year contract extension. The players then raised a formal grievance and the WCC appointed a mediator, Paddy Upton, to try to find a resolution.Upton compiled a report in which he interviewed some but not all of the players and concluded that Adams should stand down and be redeployed in a ddifferent capacity at the franchise.dddddddddddd The WCC chose not to implement those measures because they said they found material deficiencies in Uptons report, relating to the number of players he spoke to. The players then sought the help of SACA, who have assisted them in taking the case to the CCMA.On Tuesday at the CCMA meeting, Tony Irish, SACA CEO, believes some positive steps were taken. It may well be the first time that players and the board have exchanged such frank views on the issue, he said. The parties have given themselves a clear two-week period to come up with a mechanism which will hopefully finally resolve this dispute. If, by November 1, the board and the players have not reached a mutual agreement, the matter can return to the CCMA for further discussion. The ongoing saga into Adams future has coincided with the start of the season which has not gone well for Cobras. They have lost their opening two matches by big margins and their second fixture, against Knights was marred by a bad-tempered incident when Cobras batsman Zubayr Hamza was given our handling the ball. A eye-witness said members of both teams were involved in verbal altercations and there may yet be disciplinary proceedings. Cobras play Warriors in their third first-class match at Newlands, starting on Thursday. ' ' '
