NORMAN, Okla. -- Baker Mayfield passed for 300 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score to help No. 9 Oklahoma defeat No. 25 Baylor 45-24 on Saturday.Sooners coach Bob Stoops said Mayfield is playing better than a year ago, when he finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy balloting. He said Mayfield has improved as he has become more comfortable with offensive coordinator Lincoln Rileys system and receiver Dede Westbrook. He was fourth in the Heisman last year, so why wouldnt you expect him with another year to be better, Stoops said. Do we expect? Yes, we do. And watching him from a year ago, having a full year under his belt with coach Riley and these other receivers, and the emergence of Dede -- yes, we expect him to be looking like this. The Sooners won their seventh in a row overall and 15th straight in Big 12 play. Joe Mixon had 187 yards from scrimmage and Samaje Perine ran for 100 yards and two touchdowns after missing three games with a pulled muscle in his right leg for Oklahoma (8-2, 7-0 Big 12, No. 11 CFP).Baylor (6-3, 3-3) had hoped to bounce back after last weeks 62-22 loss to TCU. Instead, the Bears are on their first 3-game losing streak since the middle of the 2012 season.Baylor quarterback Seth Russell severely dislocated his left ankle and was carted off the field with 5:48 left in the third quarter. He passed for 148 yards and ran for 70 before getting injured, but he threw two interceptions and lost a fumble.THE TAKEAWAYBaylor: The Bears continued to fall apart. Their collapse started with a loss to Texas, got much worse against TCU, and now, things look bleak with Russell out. Russell missed much of last season with a broken neck. Backup quarterback Zach Smith completed 6 of 15 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown. The Bears will need to hope Russells injury isnt as serious as it looked.Oklahoma: Oklahomas defense was solid for the third straight week after giving up 59 points and 854 yards against Texas Tech. The Sooners gave up three points against Kansas, then 24 against Iowa State the next game. Baylor gained 504 yards, but Oklahomas defense forced three critical turnovers. Linebacker Jordan Evans led the way with two sacks and two interceptions.POLL IMPLICATIONSBaylor: The Bears school-record streak of 60 consecutive AP poll appearances, which Baylor says is the fourth-longest active streak in FBS, will likely end.Oklahoma: The Sooners, who were unranked heading into Big 12 play, could move higher in the AP Top 10 and position themselves to move into the College Football Playoff picture. Oklahoma was 12th in the AP poll at the same point last year.UP NEXTBaylor hosts Kansas State next Saturday.Oklahoma travels to West Virginia next Saturday. The game against the 11th-ranked Mountaineers (No. 16 CFP) provides the Sooners a chance to prove themselves against a high quality opponent.---More AP college football: www.collegefootball.ap.org---Follow Cliff Brunt on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/CliffBruntAP .Reggie Sanders Jersey . 10 Texas A&Ms offence dominated as usual against SMU. But everything is in place right now. Well be fine. The Rams 2016 odyssey began in St. Louis, where the team announced plans to return home to Los Angeles in January. After relocation was approved by the NFL, they held their offseason training activities in Oxnard, California, starting in April, before moving two hours south to Irvine for training camp in late July.On Labor Day weekend, they settled into their brand-new training complex in Thousand Oaks. Oh, and they also moved into the Coliseum, their home on Sundays for at least the next three years while their billion-dollar stadium rises in Inglewood.Everything has gone remarkably smoothly thanks to extensive planning, and the Rams expect their European trip to be just as good. The operations side and the administrative side, theyve done a tremendous job of planning in advance, taking care of the players and the coaches, Fisher said. When you have to do all these things that weve been doing, thats first and foremost. After the Rams finished practice Friday, the players had blue crates in front of their lockers with their names and a Union Jack on the side. Certain pairs of cleats and playing gear are being sent ahead for the London leg of this journey, along with a personal bag for everybody on the trip.In our business, uncertainty can become a distraction, Fisher said. You want to deal with things ahead of time, so weve done that. Its like, `OK, have your bag here between this time and that time.dddddddddddd Itll be there in London when you get there. But now, lets focus on Detroit. We have all the passports locked up in the safety deposit box right now.The Rams trip to Detroit (2-3) would be challenging even without that whole England trip afterward. This is the Rams first experience as a West Coast team traveling east for a game starting at 10 a.m. Pacific time. Those early-starting games are statistically difficult for West Coast teams, but the Rams adjusted their meeting times this week. Theyll adjust even more to combat the effect of jetlag when they arrive in London on Monday morning -- which will feel like the middle of Sunday night to the players. We have a plan in place, Fisher said. Well land, and well move them around. This trip is slightly different than the NFLs previous jaunts across the pond. Instead of Wembley, the Rams will face the New York Giants in southwest London at sold-out Twickenham Stadium, Englands 107-year-old ancestral home of rugby. The Rams hotel is far outside urban London as well, which will make it more difficult to enjoy the city -- something thats just fine with Fisher and the coaches required to keep the Rams focused on winning.Theyve been emphasizing its a business trip, defensive lineman Michael Brockers said. Well play anywhere. Theyve got the same grass there as we have here. Weve done it before.Game notesInjured defensive linemen Robert Quinn, Brockers and William Hayes all returned to practice Friday after missing the rest of team workouts for the second straight week. They all sat out of last weeks loss to Buffalo. Brockers said he could play Sunday in Detroit, while Hayes said he is more likely to play in London. ... Guard Cody Wichmann (ankle) and receiver Brian Quick (calf), a new addition to the injury report, are both listed as questionable for Detroit.---AP NFL websites: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
