But will any of D.K. Metcalf, Gary Jennings Jr, or John Ursua be the most impactful/effective rookie from this year’s draft class? The Metcalf hype has already reached fever pitch. If you scan the 2018 class, Michael Dickson and Tre Flowers were Seattle’s top rookies. Dickson made the Pro Bowl as the greatest punter in NFL history, while Flowers’ safety-to-corner conversion turned into a “trial by fire” experiment starting in Week 1. After a poor debut Ugo Amadi Jersey , Flowers bounced back and proved to be more than serviceable. I doubt anyone would’ve pegged Flowers to have such a solid rookie campaign.Go further back to 2017, and Shaquill Griffin went from not in the starting lineup to replacing Jeremy Lane in the middle of Week 1. He then became the team’s #1 corner after Richard Sherman’s Achilles injury. Truth be told, there’s a real chance Chris Carson would’ve been Seattle’s best rookie had he not been injured in October. So what of the 2019 group? In addition to the wide receiver trio, there’s first-round draft choice L.J. Collier added to the defensive line. The former TCU Horned Frog was just a one-year starter, but did get six sacks in eleven games played. Collier has drawn comparisons to Michael Bennett, which certainly sets lofty expectations.Sticking with defense, Utah’s Marquise Blair figures to start out at strong safety, while Oregon’s Ugo Amadi has already started camp at safety despite the ability to play nickel. Linebackers Cody Barton and Ben Burr-Kirven starred in Pac-12 play, and now they’re hopefully going to fix Seattle’s depth issues at the position, as well as contribute on special teams. Demarcus Christmas might be fighting for a roster spot, but Seattle has historically been able to get good production out of Day 3/UDFA defensive linemen.Rounding out the class are Miami running back Travis Homer Mychal Kendricks Jersey , who’s fighting to be a third-down back, and Wake Forest OL Phil Haynes, who’s ideally a hell of a lot better than the last dude from Wake Forest that the Seahawks drafted.“Biggest impact” is a pretty broad term, but the general idea should essentially be “best rookie.” Metcalf is likely to be the favorite primarily with the expectation that he’ll get many of the targets that will no longer be going to Baldwin. And if his physical freak traits match up with what the Seahawks want him to be on offense (a deep-ball threat and someone who can dominate contested catches)... watch out, y’all. That said, these are the Seahawks, and you should always expect the unexpected, so perhaps one of those mid-to-late round gems becomes the story of 2019.Get to voting! The Seattle Seahawks’ 10-game winning streak against the San Francisco 49ers came to a disappointing end, as the now 4-10 Niners beat their rivals 26-23 in overtime to deny the Seahawks a playoff berth for at least one week. Yes, there was bad officiating, but also sloppy play Steve Largent Color Rush Jersey , sloppy weather, and other factors that contributed to Seattle’s demise. But when you look at what has happened around the league this week... maybe it was inevitable?Week 15 started off with the Kansas City Chiefs losing to the Los Angeles Chargers on the game’s final offensive play, blowing a 28-14 lead and thus the AFC West. As it turns out, a Chiefs win would’ve clinched the #1 seed in addition to the division (more on that later). It was the Chargers’ first win against the Chiefs since Week 17 of the 2013 season, when a first-team Chargers side had to beat a second-string, Chase Daniel-led Kansas City squad in overtime just to make the playoffs. A great time for the Chargers to snap a nine-game losing streak vs. KC, and they could end up as the #1 seed in the AFC if all breaks right for them.Saturday night, the Cleveland Browns’ feint playoff hopes were kept alive courtesy of a 17-16 win over the Denver Broncos, whose head coach Vance Joseph ought to be fired for this mindlessness. It was Cleveland’s first win over the Broncos since 1990. Two iterations of the Browns have had 11 cracks at Denver over a near-three decade span, but couldn’t beat them. Denver’s fading playoff hopes, which took a hit when they had their own loss to the 49ers last week Patrick Kerney Color Rush Jersey , are done now. At the same time as the Seahawks-49ers, the Pittsburgh Steelers held off the New England Patriots for a pivotal 17-10 win, when a loss would’ve momentarily knocked them out of the playoffs. It snapped a five-game losing skid against the Patriots for Mike Tomlin’s bunch, marking his first win over New England since 2011. It’s also the first time since 2002 that the Patriots have lost consecutive December games. New England might very well fail to get a first-round bye, and as alluded to earlier, a Steelers win was what the Chiefs needed to clinch the #1 seed in the AFC... except they didn’t beat the Chargers, so their playoff seeding is still up in the air.Sometimes “shit happens,” and I think that’s an apt description for Week 15. A lot of long droughts all just ended within a 72-hour span, and you just have to move on and look at the next opponent.
