CARSON, Calif. - An offside call that turned into a goal helped end the Vancouver Whitecaps club record six-game unbeaten streak Saturday night. Jose Villareals goal, originally ruled offside, enabled the Los Angeles Galaxy to rally for a 2-1 victory at StubHub Center in front of an announced crowd of 20,093 that included David Beckham and Victorias Steve Nash. Camilo scored his league-leading 13th goal for the Whitecaps (9-6-5), who fell into a four-way tie for third place in Major League Soccers Western Conference with the Galaxy (10-8-3), Dallas and Colorado. Vancouver held a 1-0 lead before Villareal tapped a two-yard shot past goalkeeper Brad Knighton in the 29th minute. Juninho began the play with a 34-yard free kick that Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez headed toward the net. Lineman Jeremy Hanson raised his flag to indicate Villareal as offside. But after conferring with referee Chris Penso, Villareal received credit for the goal. The Whitecaps players immediately surrounded Hanson to protest, and Vancouver coach Martin Rennie argued with fourth official Juan Guzman. "I havent seen that before," Rennie said of the decision. "If youre in doubt, usually, you dont give a goal, and there was obviously some doubt." Galaxy forward Gyasi Zardes, stationed behind Villareal, was in position to head the ball into the goal. Had Zardes touched the ball, Villareal would have been offside. But a replay showed Zardes barely missing his attempted header. "It was a key moment in the game," Rennie said. "But were not blaming the referee. We have to be good enough to overcome that." Zardes put Los Angeles ahead in the 57th minute. Zardes retrieved Todd Dunivants long ball along the left flank near the end line, eluded defender Brad Rusin and struck a seven-yard shot inside the far post. The Whitecaps best chance to tie came in the 73rd minute, after Kekuta Manneh made a steal and passed to Kenny Miller. But Millers nine-yard shot hit goalkeeper Carlo Cudicinis right ankle. "I dont think we played as well in the second half as we would have liked to," Knighton said. "We were too open, at times. A team like L.A. is going to take advantage of that, and they sure did." Camilo scored his 10th goal in the past eight games in the 19th minute. Russell Teibert deflected Lee Young-Pyos cross from the right flank to an unmarked Camilo, who converted from 17 yards. That goal kept Camilo one ahead of Chicagos Mike Magee in the race for the goal-scoring championship. Los Angeles played without Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane. Donovan is with the United States Gold Cup team and Keane injured his hip flexor muscle July 13 against Portland. Air Force 1 Off-White Outlet . Villa are rooted to the foot of the table, having lost five games in a row. They are nine points from safety with eight matches remaining ahead of this weekends trip to Swansea City on Saturday Night Football.Garde told The Birmingham Mail: I am not stupid. Its an impossible mission that we have to make possible. You never know in football. Garde says the Villa fans need to get behind the team as they battle for survival We need to win games - at hoome or away, it doesnt matter.dddddddddddd We are in an urgent situation. Its always difficult to know what will happen in the game. It will be very tight, probably with a lot of tension. They [Swansea] also need points.I still believe. I have said that since the first day. I am focused on saving the club from relegation. From the time when things are certain, you can say we are in that league or this league. I am focused on the next game. I am not speculating. Villa have lost their last five games as fan discontent has grown Villa were last relegated from the top flight in 1987 and Garde insists the whole squad must continue to believe they can avoid demotion. He added on Sky Sports News HQ: Of course we do have the obligation to believe but its not just an obligation it is something that should be inside every player, inside myself too. Of course we are in a very bad period with five defeats but we have a very important game which is always difficult because even if Swansea are not in the best position they are in a far better position than us. It will be a very tough game. Also See: Garde: Villa will fight on Sporting director leaves Villa Villa video Villa fixtures Villa stats Get a £10 free bet! ' ' '
